January 29 , 2016 -  January Bird Awareness Month comes to an end
It has been awhile since I have blogged.  Heart of Feathers was extremely busy this month with all the
community outreach programs. In addition, a wonderful adopter was found for Jay.  I had to start working on crate training.  Some how I was able to get the crate training completed.  I post the videos at some point.

I am very luckily to have had such great places to promote Companion Bird Education.
January 7/8 - I started at the MSPCA -Nevins Farm doing a bake sale and a Q/A Table.  I spoke to several people and raised $500 to animal medical care.
January 14, I was invited Foster Parrots Open House (RI) where I could promote Companion Bird Education.
January 21, I was at the Pet Supply Plus (haverhill, MA) doing a Q/A table
January 22, I was at the NHSPCA doing a presentation (4 keys to happy, healthy bird)

The last weekend:
January 28/29, I was at the MSPCA doing a presentation and Meet/Greet for Roosters.

I maybe exhausted but my goal is so important: Getting Companion Bird Education out there.
Think Beyond the Cage.

January 12 , 2016 -  January Bird Awareness Month is on its way

January 1st started January Bird Awareness Month.
January 5 is Nation Bird Day
    •  Nearly 12 percent of the world's 9,800 bird species may face extinction within the next century, including nearly one-third of the world's 330 parrot species.
    • Public awareness and education about the physical and behavioral needs of birds can go far in improving the welfare of the millions of birds kept in captivity.
During this month there will be several activities related to Education, Enrichment and Ethology related to companion birds (see Front page for events).

I have been doing January Bird Awareness month for over 5 years.  Every year the events are fun and there is always something that makes it interesting.

2013 - I was on the CBS Pet Parade.

2014 - I was on the CBS Pet Parade

2015 - there was a lot promotion on enrichment.

2016 - We had Celebrate Enrichment Weekend

Well, it is 2017, and the MSPCA just announced there will Companion Bird Consultation and Training.
What a surprise.  Yes, I will be the instructor, but what an amazing way to start Bird Awareness month.
